Originally released in 2008, The Hawk Is Howling is the sixth studio album from Scottish post-rock pioneers Mogwai. Entirely instrumental, the album moves between delicate, atmospheric passages and huge, distorted crescendos, showcasing the band's ability to create tension and emotion without relying on vocals. The album features the standout track Batcat and was recorded at Chem19 Studios before being mixed by Gareth Jones.
This 15th Anniversary Edition was remastered by Frank Arkwright at Abbey Road Studios and pressed on limited white vinyl, with only 4,000 copies produced. The 2LP edition presents the album's complete ten-track sequence in a gatefold sleeve.
